Men Love Their Tools…

jeauxzdollz | Uncategorized, family | Sunday, 20 April 2008

My husband just had a birthday and everyone in the family wanted to go together and buy him a nice gift…so what do you suppose he asked for? A weed whacker. Out of thousands of possible gift opportunities he came up with a weed whacker. He very happy with his whacker too. It’s in the garage with his leaf blower and his huge assemblage of tools. He has a tablesaw, band saw, reciprocal saw, circular saw, jig saw and God knows what other kinds of saws…He has a whole slew of drills too, and sanders and grinders and one whole wall of DeWalt tools, they’re the yellow ones, and Makita tools, they’re blue and a couple of tools that are bright green, I have no idea who made them or what they do.

This is the man that makes fun of me for having more than two pairs of shoes.

Kizzy’s Going Home With Abby…

jeauxzdollz | Uncategorized, pets, family | Friday, 28 December 2007

Well, I’ve known this was going to happen for a couple of months but it still makes me a little sad. Kismet is going to go live with my daughter in her new apartment. It will be hard because we’ve had Kiz since she was eight weeks old, but she’ll get tons of extra, undivided attention, and the other dogs will get more attention now as well. Abby has been begging me to let her take Kizzy practically since we got her and she finally just wore me down.

I am a little worried about how Kiz will adjust to having to wait to go potty. She’s gotten used to her doggie door and fenced-in yard. When she was little we trained her to pee-pads. I started her out on those expensive puppy pads then realized I could get virtually the same type of pad, only larger and cheaper, by ordering from places that sell incontinence supplies. I AM the consummate cheap skate. I suppose if worse came to worse, my daughter could train Kizzy back to a pads, at least when she’s not at home. And I think Kiz will really like getting to go for potty walks…
Still, it will be sad seeing her go.

Thanksgiving

jeauxzdollz | Uncategorized, JeauxBleauz, family | Thursday, 22 November 2007

Oh, my aching back…
Got everything spit-polished, the cooking all done, the food served, the aftermath cleaned up and put away, now, I’m all about a hot bath and maybe some TV. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, I sure did! If I didn’t mention it, I’m thankful that we had plenty of food to eat, I’m thankful to have family and friends to share a meal with, I thankful my girls were all able to come home, I’m thankful we’re all happy and healthy!

I’ve Been Hijacked…By My Own Daughter!

jeauxzdollz | Uncategorized, family | Sunday, 18 November 2007

Guess while the old mama cat is away, the little mousies will play…(see previous post)

We just got home, got through another weekend working on the house in Eldorado and I can’t believe nothing blog-worthy happened! I suppose I could show you the splinter in my finger and the callus that is forming on my behind from the four hour drive each trip, but you might want to pass. I’m sooooo ready to get a hot bath, and so is everyone else…my dog made a face when she licked me. But I’ll be back tomorrow, bright-eyed and busy-tailed, or bushy-eyed and tightly-baled, or whatever the hell that expression is…

Weekend Warriers, Off To Toil Again…

jeauxzdollz | Uncategorized, JeauxBleauz, family | Saturday, 17 November 2007

It’s 5:30 AM, I’m up, dressed and we’re off to Eldorado again. Last week–against staggering odds–our men got through an entire weekend without doing anything silly, not one girly scream, no chair dancing at the sight of a rodent, or (believe it or not) the dreaded bathtub snake…

Keep your fingers crossed.

My Strange Brood…

My kids are really weird, this is a recent trip they took to the Godfrey corn maze…my youngest, (the one signing her little lungs out) didn’t know that Joshy, her fiance, was taping her…

The Hidden Danger In Your Sweater Drawer…

jeauxzdollz | JeauxBleauz, family | Monday, 05 November 2007

Fall is here and it’s officially sweater weather, and with sweaters come a danger many people are unaware of—the sweater shaver. While this simple looking gadget may seem innocuous enough, don’t be fooled. This is not a toy!

I learned this the hard way one beautiful fall day, many autumns past. I’d gotten up early and was industriously removing the fuzz-balls from the cable sweater I planned to wear that day. I glanced at my husband who was still in bed, sprawled in blissful abandon, arms flung over his head, snoring lightly as leaves accumulated in the yard. It was nearly nine, he really should have been up and around, not burning valuable daylight…I decided to give him a little tickle with the sweater shaver, just a light touch on the sensitive area of his ribs…I did not see the tiny, nearly invisible skin tag, but I will never forget my poor husband’s blood curdling scream as the shaver sliced off the tiny piece of flesh. He came off the bed like he’d been shot, eyes all wild…”What the HELL did you do to me???”

We both stared in disbelief at the pin-prick of blood that had welled up on his side. Well, I learned my lesson that day, a sweater shaver is like any tool and should be used with extreme caution! In fact, I store my sweater shaver in the garage now, beside the chain saw and the weed whacker.

Keep out of reach of children…and idiots.

Speaking of BIG HAIRY SPIDERS…

jeauxzdollz | Uncategorized, JeauxBleauz, family | Sunday, 04 November 2007

We spent the entire day Saturday helping my sister and brother-law-law get his late mother’s house ready to sell, filling cracks and nail holes, painting walls, etc. I was outside for at least an hour chipping old paint off the front door, completely unaware of what lurked nearby…you might want to mentally cue up the theme music of jaws in preparation…

REALLY BIG HAIRY SPIDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My brother-in-law put his manly-man hand beside it for size comparison, then my sister, who is slightly sadistic, tossed a pebble on his shoulder and he jumped and screamed like a little girl…
We ALL screamed when the spider moved! We’d assumed it was dead! But no, it was merely chilled…(shudder)

A Great Day At The St. Louis Zoo!

jeauxzdollz | Uncategorized, family | Monday, 08 October 2007

I had a great weekend! Saturday my husband and I took our middle daughter and niece to the St, Louis zoo. Our youngest daughter was unable to go because her boyfriend had taken her to Sandusky Ohio for their two year anniversary…we had no idea she would return with a really fantastic surprise for us! (see previous post)

We saw lots of strange and exotic animals at the zoo, here are some of my favorites…
This little sunbear sat right down and posed for me, in case you get to thinking he’s really too cute, check out the claws!

I felt sorry for this gorilla, all the bigger ones took the lion’s share of treats (or gorilla’s share as the case may be) and all he got was one, then a really big guy started eyeballing it! This fella went off and hid around a quiet corner so he could eat it in peace.

I’m not sure what kind of primate these two are!

Family shot. Daughter Jessica and niece Emma Jo. The grouchy looking fellow with his finger in the gorilla’s nose, is my hubby.

It was really hot, had to stop and rest by a nice cool fountain, this was right before my evil middle daughter got water all over me…

**********SPOILER; POOR TASTE AHEAD**************
Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

This sign was inside the stall of the bathroom, I’m sitting there thinking, money for poop? Hmnnn….But then I read that they’re only wanting bird poop. Oh well, yet another good idea, down the toilet…

Our Baby Girl Is Getting Married!!!!

jeauxzdollz | family | Monday, 08 October 2007

We just found out Sunday that our youngest daughter, Abby, is engaged! Her boyfriend Josh, took her to Sandusky Ohio for the weekend to celebrate their two year anniversary and while they were there he proposed! The ring is gorgeous and the whole trip sounded so sweet and so romantic! It will probably be a year or so before they get married, since neither have finished college yet. I guess I’m just going to have to be patient…
Here is a photo of the happy couple…I hope they don’t kill me for this…
