Geren Ford Silk Contrast Tee – Expensive, and it looks it.
Maybe I’m crazy, but one of my biggest pet peeves with clothing is when an expensive piece doesn’t LOOK like an expensive piece. I’m sorry, but I don’t want to spend $300 on a top, only to see a nearly identical piece marked $20 in a mall store window. I recognize that there’s usually a substantial difference in quality between the cheapest stuff and the really expensive stuff, but once you move up to a certain point, the difference becomes negligible.
Browsing through a few high-end web boutiques today, I found plenty of what I don’t like – the stuff that generally sends me running for the mall – but I did find at least one pleasant surprise. This Geren Ford Silk Contrast Tee is actually quite nice (although I’m not sure I would have chosen that model for the pic).
There’s something very Star Trek, very 70s, about it. I guess it’s just the deep v-neck and odd shoulders. And of course, it’s a nice way to wear the v-neck look without showing your breasts to the entire world. I just hate when I do that. It’s definitely unusual enough that I wouldn’t expect to see it while walking through the local JCPenney’s.

I’m not really sure why they call it a tee, though. The sleeves aren’t terribly t-shirt like, and the fabric is 100% silk. I had never heard of Geren Ford today (am I behind the times?), but I will definitely be keeping an eyes out for Geren Ford stuff in the future. At $239, this piece is a little pricy than what most of us normal people would wear, but for the right occasion, this contrast “tee” could be perfect.
