Self Portrait Sunday, Jo In The Saddle

I’m back in the saddle again…Ever heard that song?
We had a great time today horseback riding! My brother and sister-in-law have a beautiful farm down in southern Illinois. It was a gorgeous bright, windy day, a little hot at times but bearable. We rode for a couple of hours, then went back to the house and ate pizza. It was wonderful! I felt like I was a kid again! I feel great so far, but I wonder if my butt will be sore tomorrow. The first picture is the only one I took, so I guess it’s not really a true Self Portrait, but you are seeing my view from the saddle!

Oh, that looks like a wonderful way to spend the day! Lucky you! I rode at a cousins place the last time I was on the mainland, so eight or nine years ago. I survived. :D

You’re brave! Horses scare me. They are just TOO big.

It was a blast! Of course, I was a lot more mindful of falling off, than I was as a girl! I kept picturing that scene from “Death Becomes her”, where at the end of the movie Goldie Hawn and Merrill Streep fall down the funeral home steps and shatter to pieces! But my steed was most excellent, a very polite and easy going horse.
I went to bed last night and dreamed I was galloping across fields, like I did when I was a teenager.
